For the past couple seasons, Connelly Skis’ Jamie Beauchesne has been hard at work with the R&D of the Prophecy and apparently it’s paid off. The Prophecy maintains the strengths of its predecessor, the F1, while improving on its weaknesses. The ski is a predictable and stable ride that earns high marks in its user-friendliness. Tester Trish Burt discovered this characteristic immediately, “I felt comfortable enough to work on my skiing and not think about the fact that it was only my second set on the ski.”
The Prophecy rides deep in the water and it turns quite easily. Even if you’re not completely balanced the ski will keep searching for angle, but you just need to hold on. Get late in the course, not to worry, the ski is extremely “scrappable” and the testers were impressed with the ski’s ability to recover from your mistakes.
Keys to the Prophecy:
-Proper fin setup is essential.
-Balance is a key issue.
- Recovers well from mistakes.
-Sensitive ski. You can really feel what the ski is doing. Use that to your advantage to learn more
Words from the Mfg’er:
JB and Jay Quam give us their thoughts on the 2009 Connelly Prophecy:
Ski Theory:
We wanted to improve upon the design of the F1, maintaining it strengths and improving its weaknesses. We wanted to reduce the weight of the ski without sacrificing our superior durability. Also, we wanted the ski to cast out wide and early and carve a solid consistent arc around the buoy. We wanted to improve the finish of the turn on both sides of the wake by keeping the tip down and the ski always in a manageable position no matter the skiers positioning. Also, we wanted to the ski to build and hold angle with quick and manageable acceleration.
The first words I want to hear out of a skiers mouth after riding the Prophecy:
I like the angle the ski continues to build off the ball and the stability and consistency that it provides.
What “style” of skier do you think your ski fits the best? NOT style of SKIING, but style of SKIER.
While this ski works well for most out of the box, it will reward the skier that works with it and tunes it to their skiing the most.
Building Process:
We pride ourselves on the consistency, quality and durability of our skis. To achieve this, we select the best blend of fibers for reinforcement, have designed a core with a very specific weight and core fit in the mold for an optimally balanced and weight ski with a consistent resin content. This allows us to produce the most consistent skis in terms of flex pattern, weight, rocker line and durability in the business. Each ski is then flex tested, weighed, rockered and serial numbered…these specifics are kept on record for each ski at our factory.
